Grand Jeté Développé is a grand allegro jump in ballet in which the dancer brushes the leading leg high into the air through a développé action while springing off the supporting leg, creating a full split in the air. The leading leg unfolds from a retiré position to extend fully forward, while the back leg extends behind to form a 180-degree or greater angle. It is closely related to the Saut de Chat (called Grand Pas de Chat in the Russian School), but the emphasis in Grand Jeté Développé is on the développé unfolding of the front leg. This jump creates a dramatic, soaring effect and requires strong elevation, flexibility, and control.
