Cambré à la Barre is a barre-assisted spinal flexibility exercise. Holding the barre with one hand, the dancer performs a deep spinal bend (backward, forward, or sideways) while executing a graceful port de bras with the free arm. The barre provides stability and support, allowing for safe exploration of the spine's full range of motion. The lower body remains stable — either in plié or with straight legs — while the upper body bends deeply. This exercise is essential for developing the back and side-body flexibility required for expressive épaulement, arabesque penché, and the dramatic cambré moments in classical ballet repertoire.
