Horse’s-step. This step is so called because it resembles the movement of a horse pawing the ground. From the fourth position devant pointe tendue, brush the pointed foot inward toward the knee of the supporting leg. Without stopping the movement, execute a développé, finishing pointe tendue à terre in the fourth position devant. The step may also be performed with a hop on the supporting foot as the working leg performs the développé and points on the floor. It is usually performed in a series on alternating feet on the points or demi-pointes.
